BS 8491:2008(R2015)標準適用范圍
The Standard- BS 8491:2008(R2015) describes a method for assessment of the fire integrity of large diameter power cable for use as components for smoke and heat control systems as given in BS 7346-6, and certain other active fire safety systems. It is applicable to cables of rated voltage not exceeding 600/1000V and of overall diameter greater than 20mm

英標耐火電纜標準－BS6387耐火沖擊水噴完整性測試
全球通用的耐火電纜標準的著眼點是依賴電纜絕緣保持其在火災條件下完整性的能力。英國標準BS6387“在火災條件下保持線路完整性的電纜性能要求”提出了一些衡量不同火焰溫度、噴水和機械沖擊條件下電纜性能的判據。這個被稱為“CWZ”的最高級別的標準，即耐火電纜耐火性能分類試驗標準，是目前世界上耐火電纜的最高標準。這個標準的具體試驗要求是：
英國BS6387 C類耐火電纜：經受950℃火焰燒180分鐘；
英國BS6387 W類耐火電纜：經受650℃火焰燒15分鐘和噴水澆15分鐘；
英國BS6387 Z類耐火電纜：經受950℃火焰燒和機械沖擊15分鐘。
本標準的目的為評估當電纜暴露在這些情況下，電纜是否能夠電路的完整性。這對于消防安全系統非常重要，如應急照明場所。耐火電纜國外測試標準主要有：BS8491，BS6387，BS EN 50200，BS 8491等標準。
